Day 1: First Steps on the Inca Trail

Cusco – Km 82 – Tarayoc – Wayllabamba

Today marks the beginning of your 5-day premium trek along the legendary Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, a journey through breathtaking landscapes, ancient ruins, and rich cultural heritage.
Your guide will pick you up early from your hotel in Cusco for your private transfer to the Sacred Valley. Be sure to enjoy an early breakfast before pick-up or ask your hotel to prepare a boxed breakfast to take with you.
Upon arrival at Km 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail, you’ll meet the dedicated porter and support team who will accompany you throughout your trek, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience.
After passing through the trail permit checkpoint, your adventure begins! The day’s hike starts with a gentle ascent along the Urubamba River, offering sweeping views of the Veronica Mountain and its dramatic snow-capped peaks.
Along the way, you’ll pass the remarkable Llactapata ruins, a stunning example of Inca engineering nestled into the hillside.
At Tarayoc (2,675 m / 8,776 ft), enjoy your first gourmet trail lunch, prepared fresh by your private chef, surrounded by nature. Afterward, continue hiking through the picturesque Llulluchapampa Valley, soaking in the tranquility of the Andean highlands as you make your way to Wayllabamba, your first campsite.
Settle into your luxury camp for the evening and enjoy a hot shower, massage, and a chef-prepared dinner under the stars before retiring to your luxury glamping accommodations.

Day 2: Summiting Dead Woman’s Pass

Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa – Warmiwañusca Pass – Pacaymayo

Wake to a steaming cup of coca tea delivered to your tent inviting you to breakfast. After a nourishing breakfast, you’ll set off with your guide just as the sun begins to rise over the mountains.
Your morning hike leads you through the enchanting Ayapata Gorge (3,328 m / 10,918 ft), a serene stretch of lush cloud forest teeming with exotic birds and wildlife. The trail gradually ascends, revealing breathtaking scenery at every turn.
As you reach Llulluchapampa (3,760 m / 12,336 ft), you’ll be welcomed with a gourmet trail lunch, set against views of the iconic Warmiwañusca Pass, also known as Dead Woman’s Pass, named for the silhouette of the surrounding ridgeline.
From here, prepare for the most challenging but rewarding section of the Inca Trail. Your guide will ensure a steady, supportive pace as you ascend the mountainside, taking breaks as needed. At last, you’ll summit Warmiwañusca Pass (4,215 m / 13,829 ft), the highest point of the trek. Celebrate this major milestone with incredible panoramic views over the rugged Andean range.
Begin your descent into the Pacaymayo Ravine (3,500 m / 11,483 ft), where your luxury glamping camp awaits.
Upon arrival, enjoy a hot shower, relax with a massage, and sit down to a chef-prepared dinner under the stars, a well-earned end to this powerful day on the trail.

Day 3: Past Ruins and Through the Cloud Forest

Pacaymayo – Runkurakay Pass – Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca

Fuel up with a warm breakfast as you prepare for a day filled with ancient ruins, breathtaking views, and ethereal cloud forest landscapes.
Your morning begins with a steady climb toward the Runkurakay ruins, a mysterious circular structure believed to be an Inca lookout or ceremonial site. Continue on to summit the Runkurakay Pass (3,955 m / 12,976 ft), where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views and glimpses of the Inca Trail winding through the surrounding mountains.
Descending into the lush cloud forest, you’ll spot a small lake below before arriving at the Sayacmarca ruins (3,585 m / 11,762 ft), a dramatically perched site once used as a resting place for Inca travelers.
At Chaquicocha (3,535 m / 11,598 ft), a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. After a well-deserved rest, you’ll continue hiking for approximately 2.5 hours toward the Phuyupatamarca Pass and on to your overnight glamping camp at Phuyupatamarca (“Town Above the Clouds”), located at 3,670 m / 12,041 ft.
Along the way, pass through an original Inca tunnel carved into the mountainside and witness how the trail merges with the surrounding cloud forest. At camp, unwind with a hot shower, followed by relaxing massages, and a final gourmet dinner in the high Andes.
Tonight marks your last evening with your incredible support team. Gather together for a heartfelt toast to the porters, chefs, and crew who have transformed this trek into a luxurious and unforgettable journey, not just through Peru, but within yourself.

Day 4: A Magical Arrival at Machu Picchu

Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

Today marks the culmination of your luxury Inca Trail journey, your arrival at the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu.
Wake early and enjoy breakfast above the clouds before continuing along the ancient Inca Trail. After about three hours of hiking through lush cloud forest, arrive at Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), a stunning archaeological site named for the orchids that bloom throughout the area.
From there, continue to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) (2,750 m / 9,022 ft), where the trail reveals your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu, nestled among the misty peaks.
Descend into the citadel (2,430 m / 7,972 ft), enjoy this incredible wonder and take photos to commemorate the moment.
Take the shuttle to Aguas Calientes, where a gourmet lunch awaits. Settle into your hotel and coordinate tomorrow’s return visit with your guide before enjoying a well-deserved night of rest in your luxurious accommodation.

Day 5: Discovering Machu Picchu

Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide for the shuttle ride up to Machu Picchu, a sacred experience made even more special after yesterday’s arrival at the Sun Gate.

Enter the citadel and begin your guided exploration of this ancient Inca masterpiece. Your guide will bring the ruins to life, weaving together mythology, archaeology, and history, while you take in the awe-inspiring architecture and unmatched surroundings. Pause for unforgettable photographs and moments of reflection in one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

If you’re feeling adventurous, consider an optional hike to Huayna Picchu, the iconic peak seen rising behind the ruins in many photographs. Alternatively, Montaña Machu Picchu offers a higher, more expansive vantage point with sweeping views over the citadel and valley. Note: These hikes require separate permits, please consult your travel advisor in advance.

Following your visit, descend back to Aguas Calientes and enjoy lunch at one of the town’s top restaurants. Then, board the train to Ollantaytambo, with the option to upgrade to the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham train, a stylish finale to your unforgettable trek.
