Itinerary

Day 1:CUSCO – KM 82 – TARAYOC – WAYLLABAMBA (L, D)

Today your adventure starts; you will wake up very early to be transferred from your hotel and start your beautiful 4-day experience. 

We suggest you order a boxed breakfast (to enjoy on the way). We will travel to Km 82, where the starting point of the trek is located. Brief stop in the village of Ollantaytambo (2792 mts/ 9160.1 ft) to buy some last-minute supplies and perhaps use the restrooms. Then, we will restart our journey for about 40 min. to reach Piscacucho (2675 mts/ 8776.3 ft) or well known as Km 82. Once there we will meet with the rest of the team and porters, who are waiting for us with all the necessary equipment to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience. 

Let’s begin the route and the steps of the Incas. We will walk through incredible ruins and archaeological sites, appreciating the Andean flora and fauna.

After 4 hours hiking, we will arrive at Tarayoc (2675 mts/8776.3 ft) where we will have a gourmet lunch enjoying an impressive view of the beautiful surroundings. 

After lunch, we will continue our hike for 2 more hours to Wayllabamba (2970 mts/ 9744.1 ft). You will be impressed to see your luxury camp all set up. Before dinner time, you will enjoy a relaxing massage session offered by our professional therapist, you will feel renewed enjoying the organic essential oils. After this magical session, it will be time to enjoy a delicious dinner, then visit your comfortable sleeping tent and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Day 2. WAYLLABAMBA - LLULLUCHAPAMPA - PACAYMAYO (B, L, D)

Let’s start the day with an energizing and delicious breakfast before continuing our 1.5-hour trek, as we approach the Ayapata gorge (3328 mts / 10918.7 ft), where we encounter an ethereal forest. After capturing these beautiful views with your camera, the journey continues for about 3 more hours, of course we will make some breaks along the way. As we approach Llulluchapampa (3760 mts/ 12335.9 ft) our delicious lunch will be waiting for us, with the beautiful site of the Warmiwañusca Pass, well known as the Woman of Death Pass due to its shape.

After lunch, we continue with the next part of our hike as we reach the Warmiwañusca pass (4215 mts/ 13828.7 ft), we will walk for about 2.5 hours; this portion is likely to be very demanding but also rewarding once we have reached the peak once there to celebrate, your guide will take as many amazing pictures as you wish. After some time at Warmiwañusca, you will begin your descent hike to the Pacaymayo ravine (3500 mts/ 11482.9 ft) where you will arrive at the camp at Pacaymayo (3500 mts/ 11482.9 ft). And as usual, you will enjoy your hot shower as well as your massage before savoring your delicious dinner and settling in for the night in your sleeping tent.

Day 3: PACAYMAYO – CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA (B, L, D)

Wake up to the chirping of birds and take a hot shower to relax your muscles before a comforting breakfast.

Then, we will be ready to begin the hike to the ruins of Runkurakay. We will continue walking for another hour to meet our Second Pass of the Runkurakay route (3955 mts/ 12975.7 ft), the incredible footprint of the Inca Trail can be seen from there, enjoy the view!

Now we begin to descend and we will see a lake covered with algae, we continue to the ancient Inca city of Sayacmarca (3585 mts/ 11761.8 ft). Once again, your guide will be there to answer any questions you may have, as we continue the route to Chaquicocha (3535 mts / 11597.8 ft). Upon arrival a delicious lunch awaits you. After resting, we will hike for about 2.5 hours to the Phuyupatamarca pass (2640 mts / 11942.3 ft). Passing an Inca tunnel we will head towards our overnight camp at Phuyupatamarca (3670 mts/ 12040.7 ft). Once there, you will once again be able to relax with a hot shower followed by relaxing massages.  Then you will be ready to indulge in your dinner. This night will be your last with the rest of the staff, so we strongly encourage you to make a toast in honor of this wonderful experience they have helped to provide for you. Cheers.

Day 4: PHUYUPATAMARCA - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES – POROY - CUSCO (B)

We have reached the most important part of the hike; we hope you have fully enjoyed your experience. To fulfill today’s adventure, we must get up at 4:30 am, to have enough time to warm up with a nutritious breakfast. We will walk for about 3 hours, until we reach the beautiful Wiñaywayna (2650 mts/ 8694.2 ft) which means forever young translated from Quechua, it was given this name because of the impressive orchids that naturally decorated the place. Then we must continue to the Sun Gate or Inti Punku (2750 mts/ 9022.3 ft).

Marvel at the views as you observe the citadel of Machu Picchu from above, then descend to reach Machu Picchu (2430 mts/ 7972.4 ft); you will be amazed as soon as you enter the majestic citadel. Your expert guide will take you to the most important details and enclosures in a 2-hour visit, you will learn more about the Inca lifestyle, their culture, history, theories and secrets and more. Afterwards, you will have plenty of time to wander around the citadel and capture these precious moments with lots of photos.

Once the tour is over, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at Aguas Calientes included in our program. When you feel ready, board the comfortable coach that will take you to the train station in Poroy, Cusco.

Upon your arrival, as you disembark you will be met by your host, who will take you and drive you approximately 40 minutes to your hotel in Cusco.

Please consider that our prices from 2 people onward are based on double and triple accommodation, if you would like to have a single tent then the supplement will be of $ 489.00 per person.

Train stations and train schedules are subject to availability, also due to rainy season Poroy train station is closed from January to April of each year.

The walking sticks are not included, but if you prefer we can arrange to provide you a pair of basic poles (Standard Brand) without any charges; you just need to ask in advance to your travel specialist.

If you would like to climb to Huayna Picchu Mountain, please take in mind that is an unguided hike, require an additional cost and involve starting the hike at 03:00 am on the 4th day. If you are interested, please consult with your travel specialist as we need to check availability far in advance.
