Peru is an incredible country. It is known for so much and for everything. From its beautiful cities whether modern or colonial; its people in each place with their different characteristics; the charm of each place; its magical and incredible places and of course, its great food, recognized as one of the best in the world.
Peru is a real energy wherever you go. There is so much to see, to admire, to discover, to taste, that you can never finish being able to say about this country so rich and full of charm
Cusco
The Incas considered Cusco to be the “navel of the world”, capital of the Empire and the center from which lines of spiritual power, or “ceques” radiated to all key points of their cosmological universe.
Magic city, with a life of its own, full of charm in every corner. Churches, nearby monuments, colors, aromas and flavors. Cusco is that and much more including its bars and restaurants and an intense night life
With its experiential Sacred Valley that includes towns and experiences as specific as Pisac, Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Ollantaytambo and so on. These villages are the way to the most enigmatic and full of emotional citadel, the seventh wonder of the modern world, Machu Picchu.
Best time to visit Cusco?
You can never tell when is the best time to visit Cusco. We can say that in its rainy season (January to March), it is very green and its colors are enhanced. From April to December (although no one knows now with the weather), there is much more tourism. In itself, the highest season in visits is between May and October
In terms of weather in Cusco, I always packed the same clothes. Even during the dry season, there will be sudden showers so take note that Cusco is a city of (beautiful) rain
The sun is also very strong so I would say that this is really a city of multi-climates
Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru on a 2,430-meter (7,970 ft) mountain ridge. Often referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas”, it is the most familiar icon of the Inca Empire
There is so much that can be said about this lost citadel of the Incas. Here are some sayings:
**Awe-inspiring, spectacular, massive, remote, mystical, there just aren’t enough adjectives to describe Machu Picchu, one of the ultimate destinations in Latin America
** There are thousands of words you could use to describe Machu Picchu. My best is: beautiful, extraordinary, and powerful
“Few romances can ever surpass that of the granite citadel on top of the beetling precipices of Machu Picchu, the crown of Inca Land.” – Hiram Bingham
Best months to see Machu Picchu
It is well known that the most popular time to visit is during the dry season (April to October) with the peak months being June through August when the weather is at its best. Machu Picchu is perched in a cloud forest and has a subtropical climate with warm, humid weather throughout the year; however, if you want to see everything green, full of charm and color, you can opt for the rainy months, such as December to March. You are going to find much less visitors and more spaces in trains, income guides and others and it is known as the low season
Worst time to visit Machu Picchu
As mentioned, for many people the worst time to visit Machu Picchu is during the rainy season which is during the months of December to March. Many people prefer not to do it at this time because there is usually abundant rain and it could result that the citadel is not seen well and, in some cases, it can even be dangerous because of the same rain and people can slip
Does it snow at Machu Picchu
There is no snow in Machu Picchu citadel. But when you hike the legendary Inca Trail, you could have snow along the trek. Machu Picchu’s daily weather is unpredictable
The weather almanac for Cusco is relatively consistent throughout the year. Lows at night are going to be between 30–40F and highs are going to be between 60–80F. It will feel like winter on most evenings. Snow is extremely rare, so don’t plan on it, but do plan on snow-like temperatures
